- Adding a Page Anchor
Internal Hyperlink:
Use this when you are linking to a webpage within your own website.
- Go to "yourdomain.com/admin" to login
From there navigate to the page you would like to edit and select the "Edit" button located on the side of your page.
- Put your cursor on the page where you would like to insert your hyperlink.
- Create some wording on the page that you will use to showcase your link.
In my example below I used two different examples to link the See Our Office Tour: - Now Highlight the text you just created:
Or if you have it within a sentence (as seen below), highlight only the text you want to include as the link: Once your text is highlighted, select the "Insert/Edit Link" icon in your toolbar to the side of the page:
- The Link window below will appear for you to enter the URL, and how the new link will open for your users that select it:
- Click on the "Link List" drop-down menu
- Find the page you would like the link directed to, left click to select it
- Target: Leave this as "None"
- Select the OK button in the bottom right-hand corner to finalize the link- the font will change (depending on the template design you have- it will look similar to this):
After (once the link is set):
*You will notice the font has changed, it will be a slightly different color with an underline.
Before (non-linked):
*You will notice the font has not changed...
External Hyperlink:
Use this when you are linking to a website or webpage outside of your own website.
- Go to "yourdomain.com/admin" to log in
From there navigate to the page you would like to edit and select the "Edit" button located on the side of your page.
- Put your cursor on the page where you would like to insert your hyperlink.
- Create some wording on the page that you will use to showcase your link.
In my example below I used two different examples to link the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery: - Now Highlight the text you just created:
Or if you have it within a sentence (as seen below), highlight only the text you want to include as the link: Once your text is highlighted, select the "Insert/Edit Link" icon in your toolbar to the side of the page:
- The Link window below will appear for you to enter the URL, and how the new link will open for your users that select it:
- URL Field: Paste in or type the URL to the URL Field
- Target: Always set the target to an outside website to "New Window". This way it will either open in a new tab or new internet window (and they will have your website in the original internet window they can go back to once they are done viewing the information needed.
Remove Link from Wording
Use this if you want to remove the link from the wording on your page, and keep the physical wording there (just deactivated from the link)...
- Go to "yourdomain.com/admin" to log in
From there navigate to the page you would like to edit and select the "Edit" button located on the side of your page. Put your cursor anywhere within the linked/underlined text (do not highlight the text):
- Now select the "Insert/Edit Link" icon:
- The below pop-up window will appear
- Remove all text from the "URL" field
- Your URL field should now look like this:
- Select "OK" once done.
- Now you will notice the link you edited (in this example it was the "Patient Registration"):
- Looks like this now: (no underline means the hyperlink has been removed)!!
Page Anchors:
Use this when you want links to direct to specific portions of a page.
- Go to "yourdomain.com/admin" to login
- From there navigate to the page you would like to edit and select the "Edit" button located on the side of your page. Put your cursor in the text location you would like the anchor to be placed (this is where the user will be directed on the page when they click the link you will place at the top of the page). Then click the 'Anchor' button on your editing menu
- After clicking this icon, a box will pop up asking for an "Id". Simply create one based on the section you are making the anchor for. For example, the section we are using here is titled 'After tooth extraction' so I have named my anchor 'afterextraction'. Make sure your title is one word with no spaces or special characters then hit the 'ok' button.
- This will insert the anchor icon after the selected text:
- After inserting the anchor to the page, we will need to add the link that directs to this anchor. To do this, navigate back up to the top of the page and place your cursor where you would like the text links for your anchor to go, then click on the icon for 'insert/edit link'
- This will open up the following menu:
In the 'Text' field, type in what you would like the link to read. In my example, we are going with the portion of page we are linking to 'After Tooth Extraction'. Then from the 'Anchor' dropdown, select the anchor we just created 'afterextraction'. Then click 'Ok'.
- This creates the link to your anchor on the page. Now when a patient clicks on this link, the page will take them to the corresponding section.
- Make sure to save changes using the floppy disk icon and your anchor is ready for use!
